Soul Seekers - "Mystic"

Alyson Noel's books never disappoint. I have been a fan since the beginning and am always excited when a new book comes out.

The Soul Seeker series is already in their third book, and while the first one still seemed to grad at times, the second and now the third are really picking up the pace.

The story so far: Daire Santos didn't know anything all her life except the movie sets where her mom worked as a make-up artist. On her sixteenth birthday though, everything changes. Always having plagued with visions she didn't know what to think of, they make her go a little crazy that particular day. Forced to fly back to the States with her mom, Daire sees her life going down the drain. That is, until the grandmother she has never known, calls her mother out of the blue, claiming that she is the only one that can help her. Unwilling and yet seeing no other choice, Daire is shipped off to Enchantment, the middle of nowhere in Mexico. With the help of her grandmother, she realizes that there is a whole destiny out there for her to discover. She's the last seeker from a long line of people that bring balance to the world as we know it. Working against them are the Richter's, the wealthy family in town that has everything under control. With the help of her new friends and a guy that she cannot stay away from but maybe should, she's trying to rid the world of the evil, a task that is not quite as easy as some might make it out.

Story of "Mystic": With both main characters, Daire and Dace dying, it was a horrible way to end the book. Thankfully, both survive (okay, that part I guess wasn't that hard to figure out anyway). Daire has been brought back from the dead by a guy named Axel, that stays a mystery throughout the whole book. Dace however ends up in the darkest part of the Middleword, close to death. The only reason he didn't die is because Cade, the evil twin, survived as well. Oh boy, the wonders of connection between twins. Only that theirs runs so much deeper. Once Daire manages to get back to the Middle world and her home, her main goal is to try to get Dace and his soul (right, because he lost that as well) back to him. Finding him and then destroying the Richter clan once and for all is her main goal throughout this book. With her friends yet again by her side, assisting her when she wouldn't have expected it, things seem to be working quite well. That is, until Phyre, Dace's crazy ex, starts to show up and make crazy comments about the future of not only this town, but also about Daire and Dace. So now all of the sudden you not only have the Richters, but also another crazy family that wants to end the world....or at least rid them of everything they consider evil. Oh, and by the way, due to the connection that Dace and Cade have, Cade cannot be killed....or Dace dies. And honestly, that's something neither one of us wants. Oh, and the ending....sooooooo sad, that part actually had me drying my tears afterwards. So sad, just simply sad!

So with a crazy and sometimes confusing storyline like that, no wonder that this book just pulls you in and makes you want to know what will happen. This book is highly entertaining and likeable. I enjoyed reading it and had a hard time putting it down. Alyson Noel manages to make you feel that things were going okay, and then she twists it all around so that you can only see doomsday ahead, and nothing else. Despite everything, hope seems what keeps you going, because all the while you're thinking: there has to be a way to put a stop to all of this and let Dace and Daire be together.....for that, I'm kinda thinking, we still have to wait a little longer. I'm so excited for the next book in the series, and I think people will enjoy this book just as much as its predessors. I am a fan of the characters, because some of them are so unique, you can't help but falling in love with this story.

Go and read it, if you want something that's a little different from your regular YA stories!

Lots of book love for you guys,
Yvi
