Alien invasion - the hot kind!!!

Oh my, so I'm still fanning myself over the hotness that is Daemon Black. And believe me when I say, I'm pretty sure you will all feel the same way after you're through with those books!

By Jennifer L. Armentrout:

When Katy moves to West Virginia with her mom after her dad died, things couldn't look more bleak. Leaving the sunny beaches of Florida behind, she needs to spend her senior year in no-mans-land. That wasn't the worst of all though. Meet Daemon Black, new next-door-neighbor and a guy that simply by opening his mouth, brings out the very worst in Katy.

"I'd always avoided confrontation in the past, but this guy was flipping my bitch switch like nothing else."
Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Katy quickly befriends Daemon's twin sister Dee, but her brother is a completely different story. They hate each other, and yet again, they don't. More than once Katy has to admit just how awesomely good-looking he is and her thoughts go the R-rated way more than once. And boy that is hot. Daemon himself is a jerk, an ass and whatever else you want to call him. And yet you can't help but love him. And damn will you fall in love with that guy. You will, believe me. Yes, he's a jerk and all that, but he's also amazing, hot, unnerving and just everything that gets you excited about the perfect book boyfriend character.

"Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys."
Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Back to the story though: due to a few mishaps, Katy learns that her new neighbors are actually aliens. Right, aliens. From outer space. She finds out what it means for them to be on earth and deals with it. Throw in the usual enemies aliens have (and no, those are not the green little munchkin kinds) and you get a perfect mix of romance, thrill and excitement in every way possible. Not to mention the growing tension between Daemon and Katy. Oh boy, that one make out scene is hot on so many levels!!!!!

"They were googley-eyes in class on Friday. It was pretty steamy, the whole 'I'm screwing you with my eyes" thing they had going on."
Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

When Katy almost dies at the end of the first book, Daemon saves her, forming a connection between them that ties them together until their death. Right, until one of them dies. Because if that happens, the other one dies as well. So not fun.

In the beginning of book two, "Onyx" we have Daemon and Katy, that still try to deal with whatever relationship they have/don't have.

"Come and get it." Come and get...? Daemon placed half the cookie between those full, totally kissable lips. Oh, holy alien babies everywhere...
Onyx - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Then there's Blake, the new guy and someone perfectly normal. Or so it seems. So it's no wonder that Katy, who isn't sure what Daemon's intention about a possible relationship really are, agrees to go out with a perfectly normal, BORING guy. Turns out, Blake is not so normal himself. And Katy, due to Daemon having healed her, starts showing signs of superpower as well. Throw all of that together and you have a love triangle that includes super powers and things always flying everywhere. Needless to say that things turn messy!! And all of the sudden Katy is what the government calls a hybrid.

And have I mentioned lately how amazing, awesome and hot Daemon is?? No, didn't think so!!! And god, he can also be thoughtful, caring and freaking AMAZING!!!! I know, I've been saying that alot, but it's just simply the thruth!

Okay, back to the actual story. So turns out Blake is not just any superhuman guy, but a hybrid just like what Katy became when Daemon healed her. The good part, he's the one that can show her what she can do with her new powers. The bad part: Daemon is sooooo not a fan of this agreement. And gosh that's entertaining as hell. So as Katy's mom suddenly brings home a new boyfriend, who might not be what he seems, all signs point to trouble. Then there is Dawson, Daemon's and Dee's brother that is apparently dead, but might not be so dead after all. And when Katy stops trusting the ones that care most for her, that's when the real trouble starts. Badly.

In "Opal" we see what the aftermath of a horrible fight can turn into. Friends turn into enemies, enemies turn into friends. Katy and Daemon now have to fight together to not only keep their relationship together, but also to keep their little group from falling apart when betrayal threatens to destroy them. With Dawson back, hell bend on getting back the one he loves from their enemies, it becomes apparent that time is of the essence. They need to break into a government facility to get Dawson's girlfriend out and that, let me tell you guys, is not pretty. Death can be seen around every corner and every wrong move they make, every wrong person they trust, only gets them closer to their own death.

The third book loses some of the banter from Katy and Daemon, but therefore other things, more intimate and caring, take over. And it's not any less great than before.

"I started giggling. "But, oh Lordie Lord, it's true. I'm like a puddle of mush when he kisses me. It's embarassing. I'm so, like, 'Thank you, can I have another?' Sad."
"Opal" - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Seriously, I can totally understand that. Daemon would turn me into a puddle of mush just by walking, so I completely understand. And heck, I'd never stop asking for more with a guy like him. Okay, maybe I'm a little biased already!!!!

What can I say to get you to read this book that hasn't convinced you while reading my long review? Oh, I know!!! The first two books have bonus scenes from Daemon's POV in it. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Lordie Lord, those are just.......*getting a fan before she's losing her cool* it's swoon worthy!!! This guy is just amazing on so many levels, and you will fall in love with his arrogant personality just as much as I did...hopefully at least!

So now, why are you still reading this review and haven't already grabbed your versions of the Lux series?? Go, NOW!

Thank you <3
